Flow Partners With Red Cross To Launch COVID-19 Support Helpline

Flow has answered the call of the BVI Red Cross by donating a mobile device and fixed services to facilitate their COVID-19 Support Helpline initiative.
In a press release, Marketing and Communications Coordinator, Nadia James said that, “Flow understands that there are many people in need of support, both physically and mentally during these unprecedented times, and so the psycho-social support provided by the BVI Red Cross is timely and needed."

She added, "in addition to the daily mental stress of keeping themselves and their families safe during the pandemic, the community must be mindful of other factors such as being vigilant during the Atlantic Hurricane Season. We encourage persons who are in need of support, guidance or more information on COVID-19 will reach out to the hotline.”

Director of the BVI Red Cross, Stacy Lloyd explained, “The donation comes as part of an initiative where the BVI Red Cross is currently supporting response efforts to help the Territory manage through the stress created by the outbreak of COVID-19 cases in which many of our residents battled this disease and also lost loved ones.”

She added, “We envisioned the “COVID Support Helpline” where persons can call in to receive Psychosocial support, information about COVID and other requests that we can fulfill.”

The Director further explained that the hotline will also seek to provide support for other stress factors affecting the public including the threat of Hurricanes.

“We have learned that persons are more anxious during the hurricane season due to last minute preparations, especially before an impending weather system, which leads to panic and anxiety. This line will also provide guidance and information on how persons should prepare for these natural weather events safely within the current COVID protocols."

Lloyd continued: "These include, not going into crowded lines to shop, packing sufficient masks when leaving home, storing vaccination cards safely, and other similar types of information.”

The BVI Red Cross COVID Support Helpline numbers are 494-5055 and 540-5056.
