Former premier of the Virgin Islands, Andrew Fahie, has had his drug and money laundering trial set for January 8, 2024, by a Florida High Court judge.
Fahie is charged with one count of conspiracy to import a controlled substance, conspiracy to engage in money laundering, and attempted money laundering, as well as a subsequent charge of Interstate and Foreign Travel in Aid of Racketeering.
Fahie's trial was moved to a later date due to various new developments and the court's refusal to disclose the identity of a confidential source.
The former premier's co-accused, Oleanvine Maynard and her son Kadeem Maynard, have already pleaded guilty to a single count of conspiracy to import cocaine and agreed to cooperate with prosecutors in exchange for leniency at sentencing.
Fahie's trial was rescheduled to allow for sufficient time for motions to be filed and considered by the court.
