Harry Potter furniture - is it just us or is this surprisingly chic?

Harry Potter furniture - is it just us or is this surprisingly chic?

Could this Harry Potter furniture actually work in a cool modern home?

The phrase 'Harry Potter furniture' doesn't exactly conjure up an image of cool home decor. Fun, maybe, and for Gryffindor obsessives, sure, but something that would please your kids and look pretty acceptable in a modern scheme? Probably not.

So how come this new collection of fabrics, used as cushion covers by MinaLima has us pausing for a closer look?

It's not so much the newspaper print that captures us, or the Maurauder's Map, but the Black family tree, used in the main image to cover the ottoman too, has a classic, William Morris-style charm. It's ornate and pleasingly familiar, only looking like Harry Potter decor when you get really close.

So if you have a teen or tween Harry Potter fan in your home who is clamouring for branded Christmas gifts, perhaps this could be something you can live with, too?
