Hundreds take part in candlelight vigil for Everton McMaster

Hundreds of residents took part in a candlelight vigil for the late Mr Everton McMaster on Sunday, November 15, 2020, at the crime scene in Baughers Bay, Tortola.

“I am very sorry for your terrible loss, and I hope you get better days and keep praying and watch over your family. Never give up on your family, and that’s what matters most to all of us right now; family come first before anything," a young man said on the microphone in a strained voice.

'Family loss is not new to me'

The young Baughers Bay man said he too is very familiar with the death of loved ones.

He said: “I know how it feels to lose a family member because I lost two of my family members – one this year and one last year and I just pretend I just see their face right in front of me. Every time I think of them, my blood just crawl my skin, and it warms my heart to see them by my side 24/7. Once they live on in our hearts, they will stay in our hearts forever.”

He ended his tribute to McMaster by wishing his family well.

“I hope the family live happy and in good heart and good peace that you all will have a good future,” he remarked.
