Mr. Samuel Jack Husbands has been appointed Chair of the Labour Arbitration Tribunal in the British Virgin Islands (BVI)

Mr. Samuel Jack Husbands has been appointed Chair of the Labour Arbitration Tribunal in the British Virgin Islands (BVI)

He will serve a tenure of two years, starting from May 1st, 2023.
Mr. Husbands has an extensive legal background spanning over thirty years and has held various positions including Barrister, Managing Associate, Partner, and Money Laundering Officer.

He is also a member of several professional organizations, including the BVI Bar Association and the International Bar Association.

Hon.

Lorna Smith, OBE, Deputy Premier and Minister for Financial Services, Labour and Trade, made the appointment with the approval of the Cabinet, in accordance with Section 29 of the Labour Code, 2010.

The Labour Arbitration Tribunal is an independent tribunal that makes orders and awards in labour disputes, with the power to regulate its own procedures.

The parties appearing before the tribunal are entitled to the same rights as they would have before any court.
