Stevenson was captured in the Netherlands and extradited to Scotland, while several accomplices also received jail sentences.
James Stevenson, a notorious crime boss dubbed 'the Iceman', has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for directing a vast drug-trafficking operation aiming to inundate Scotland with £76 million worth of cocaine and millions of etizolam tablets.
Stevenson, aged 59, pleaded guilty at Glasgow's high court to charges including cocaine importation and organising the production and distribution of etizolam.
His organization was linked to operations in multiple global locations, including Glasgow, Ecuador, Spain, and the UK.
A plot involving cocaine smuggling using banana boxes was intercepted by French law enforcement in 2020, leading to seizures of cocaine in Dover.
Furthermore, a Kent factory linked to Stevenson was found capable of producing millions of etizolam pills.
Stevenson fled to the Netherlands but was captured during a joint operation with Dutch police and extradited back to Scotland.
His accomplices, including fruit market trader David Bilsland and others involved in the scheme, received jail sentences ranging from four to seven years.
