Opposition Leader Hon. Marlon Penn has bemoaned that despite the government issuing millions in consultancy contracts, there are no reports on those consultancies.
Penn addressing the issue on Monday, 14th December 2020, in the House of Assembly and was at the time speaking on the matter of Rosemary ‘Cindy’ Rosan Jones being axed from her post of Events Coordinator at the BVI Tourist Board.
“We are bringing people from all Timbuktu and hiring them in the government services with very healthy consulting engagements," he stated.
Hon. Penn continued, “in the budget [there is] $8 million for consultancy. We have consultants on the ground from all walks of life from all over the place, up to now you cannot get a report on what them do, you cannot get a report on their contract or their level of engagement.”
This is not the first time that the issue of no reports from consultancy contracts has been brought to the fore by Hon. Penn.
In February this year during a press conference, he said, neither he nor his other colleagues in Opposition received any information pertaining to consultancies issued by the Hon. Andrew
Fahie administration.
He said that they have made multiple attempts via letters and even through personal contact with Premier
Fahie and Speaker of the House of Assembly Hon. Julian Willock on the matter to no avail.
