Motorists told to be vigilant of falling rocks, puddles

Motorists in Windy Hill, Fort Recovery and Cox Heath on Tortola have been asked to exercise caution and be vigilant when traversing the road due to constant falling rocks in the street.

This is according to the Road Policing Unit of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) today, February 5, 2022.

Rocks have become loose and some roads in low-lying areas are reportedly flooded due to rainfall today.

According to the Department of Disaster Management (DDM), earlier today, the presence of a stationary frontal trough across the area will continue to maintain a very high chance of showers over and around the islands during the next 24 hours.

Puddles on road can cause vehicles to hydroplane- RVIPF

Meanwhile, the Road Policing Unit has also advised that small puddles of water on the roadways can cause vehicles to hydroplane if driven through too fast.

Motorists in the East End District are advised to take the same necessary precaution when using the Ridge Road.
