Police HQ now redesigned to provide enhanced security, command capability

Repairs to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) headquarters (HQ) at the Sir Olva Georges Plaza on Main Street, Tortola has been completed and refurbished with ‘internal enhancements’.
The Police Force’s HQ has been operating upstairs RiteWay Food Market in Pasea Estate for roughly three years now but will be moving back its original location Main Street location next Tuesday, June 30.

Commissioner of Police Michael Matthews said the building, which was rendered unhabitable after the September 2017 Hurricanes, has been “redesigned internally to provide an enhanced HQ command capacity and capability”.

“The redesign has also increased security to the building and those within it as well as modernize our reception and meeting arrangements for the public,” Commissioner Matthews said.

He continued: “I am delighted we have reached this point at last but will remain eternally grateful to Mr Guy Strickland and his team at Riteway on Pasea for their tremendous kindness and support over the past three years in our ‘temporary’ location above the supermarket.”

The refurbishment project was conducted by Autland Heavy Equipment Company Limited at a cost of $816,467.21.

Works include refitting the roof, restoring the interior walls, installing furnishings and fittings, the minister said.
