Police officer interdicted for ‘criminal offences’

Police officer interdicted for ‘criminal offences’

A police officer has been held in connection to recent illegal activities reported in the territory.
The Royal Virgin Police Force (RVIPF) gave that indication while responding to questions from BVI News on Thursday, January 21.

“Commissioner [Michael Matthews] is confirming that an officer has been interdicted from duty as investigations are being conducted into criminal offences,” the RVIPF stated.

The officer’s name is being withheld as no charges has been laid against him, so far.

However, BVI News otherwise understands that the interdicted cop is a member of the RVIPF’s Armed Response Unit.

It is also understood the crimes for which he is being investigated is in relation to a recent drug bust that resulted in police recovering 150 kilos of cocaine on Tortola.

Investigations are ongoing and our news centre will provide more on this developing story as information becomes available.
