Police probing video footage, witness statements in Jaimez A.J Stoutt murder

Detectives at the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) are currently probing witness statements and CCTV footage over the shooting death of Jaimez A.J Stoutt.

Stoutt who was an army veteran and army paratrooper having served in Afghanistan in 2011, was wounded while in the Crystal’s Nightclub in Freebottom early Saturday morning, December 11, 2021.

He reportedly later succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to the Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital in Road Town, Tortola.

A release from the RVIPF has indicated that Lead Investigator Detective Inspector Jumo Shortte says while no one has yet been charged, several lines of inquiry are actively being followed at this time, therefore information to the public must be limited.

“We have committed a number of our detectives to making sure that the evidence is solid against the individual or individuals responsible for Jaimez Stoutt death and to ensure that justice is served. Therefore, information released to the public must be restricted at the moment,” Shortte noted.

Witnesses to the events at the nightclub or persons having information to share are being urged to contact the RVIPF Major Crime Team directly at 368-5682.

The late Stout was an artist and did designs and drawings for tattooing.

He was also an avid Basketball player and played for many local teams including Avengers, Bayside Blazers, and most recently Skillful Ballers, a team from Huntums Ghut, Tortola.
