A large mass of Sargassum seaweed, reportedly not seen in such amounts in that area in recent years, has accumulated on the stretch of beach between Quito's Gazebo and the bus shed close to Cane Garden Bay Hill.

Some parts of the already narrow beach are completely covered with Sargassum seaweed.

When our roving reporters visited the beach, two excavators could be seen removing the Sargassum seaweed from the beach.

Efforts to reach Second District Representative Hon Melvin M. Turnbull, who is also the Minister for Natural Resources and Labour, for comments proved futile.
