Angus Robertson, the Scottish culture secretary, has demanded an urgent meeting with Creative Scotland after discovering that the arts body awarded more than one hundred thousand pounds to an explicit art project.
The project, titled Rein and directed by Leonie Rae Gasson, involved scenes of real sex.
The project initially secured the funding after amendments suggested by Creative Scotland were included.
The event was set to premiere at the Take Me Somewhere Festival in Glasgow in 2025, with filming scheduled in the Scottish Highlands.
Creative Scotland, which claimed it was unaware of the explicit content, has since recovered nearly sixty-eight thousand pounds of the grant money.
Women's rights groups and politicians have criticized the project, calling it degrading and dangerous.
Supporting partners included the Tramway-based arts charities Take Me Somewhere and The Work Room.
Mr. Robertson and Conservative deputy leader Meghan Gallacher are seeking explanations over the funding approval process and transparency in the organization.
