Chinese car group achieves milestone with higher registrations of fully electric cars in Europe compared to Tesla
BYD has sold more electric vehicles in Europe than
Tesla for the first time, marking a significant development in the Chinese company's expansion into overseas markets.
The company has been pushing to expand its presence in international markets over the past few years.
In the latest registrations, BYD recorded 7,231 fully electric cars in Europe last month, compared to 7,165 registrations for
Tesla.
This shift in sales figures is notable given that
Tesla has historically led the European battery electric vehicle market, while BYD only began operations beyond Norway and the Netherlands in late 2022. The number of registered vehicles highlights a change in the European car market, with BYD's sales surpassing those of
Tesla for the first time.
