Team GB athletes have returned to the UK 'exhausted but happy' after collecting 65 medals at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The team, which landed at London St Pancras station on Monday, won 14 golds, 22 silvers, and 29 bronzes, maintaining their medal tally from London 2012.
This result is their joint-third-highest medal count at a single Games, behind Rio 2016 (67 medals) and London 1908 (146).
However, despite their success, Team GB’s seventh-place finish in the medal table is their lowest since Athens 2004.
Notable performances include Amber Rutter’s silver in women’s skeet shooting, gymnast Bryony Page's trampoline gold, and Laviai Nielsen's double bronze in relay events.
Tom Daley announced his retirement after winning his fifth Olympic medal in Paris. London Mayor Sadiq Khan greeted the athletes.
UK Sport chair Katherine Grainger praised the ‘extraordinary’ success, emphasizing a positive, athlete-friendly environment over 'winning at all costs.' She noted the rise in competition from countries like Australia, France, and the Netherlands.
