Team warriors wins public service week for the second consecutive year

Team Warriors continued their winning streak and are the winners of Public Service Week for a second year.
Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture, Mrs. Carolyn Stoutt-Igwe was on hand to receive the trophy alongside Warriors team captain, Ms. Gemi Evans at a ceremony held Tuesday.

Several other Warriors, the team comprised of officers from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture as well as from the Ministry of Health and Social Development, were also present.

Deputy Governor, Mr. David D. Archer, Jr. presented the winners with their awards and said it was his pleasure to return the trophy to the Warriors for the second year in a row.

“Like the rest of our Public Service, this team does a wonderful job all year long. Seeing the team work together in the spirit of friendly competition is inspiring, and it demonstrates what we hope to achieve during every Public Service Week, which is to help each other shine and to share our talents and skills with our colleagues,” Mr. Archer said.

The Warriors earned 1,855 in the competitive events. Second place went to the Panthers, which is made up of officers from the Ministry of Transportation, Works and Utilities and the Ministry of Finance. They earned 1,105 points.

Third place went to the Supersonics, which is made up of officers from the Governor’s Group, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Labour and the Constitutionally Established Offices. They earned 1,095 points.

Fourth place went to the Eagles, which is made up of officers under the Premier’s Office. They earned 435 points.

Public Service Week was held from November 22 to 27 under the theme ‘Twenty Years of Resilience, Hope and Celebration.’ The week of activities included sports and trivia competitions, as well as a domino tournament. Public Officers and the Employee Assistance Programme collaborated on a Public Service Food Drive that culminated with the donation of more than 3,000 items to the Family Support Network Food Pantry.

A virtual opening ceremony and service of praise and thanksgiving kicked off the week of activities; public officers were also recognised in a special thank you video message from all 13 members of the House of Assembly. Public officers who had attained 10, 25 and 35 years of service and retirees were also recognised in a special virtual ceremony.
