Teen arrested for burglary, damaging business cameras

An 18-year-old male of no fixed place of abode has been arrested and charged for burglary and multiple incidents of criminal damage.
A media release from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) on Monday alleges that the teen criminally damaged “CCTV cameras of several establishments within the Road Town area”.

“Mehki Heskey has confessed so far to five offences, one burglary and four counts of criminal damage. He is charged with removing or damaging CCTV cameras outside of four businesses between McNamara and Pickering Street,” the RVIPF stated.

Heskey has since been granted police bail and is slated to appear before the Magistrate’s Court at a later date.

“Similarly, Marvin Gumbs also of no fixed place of abode was charged with entering and taking items from at least two motor vehicles in the McNamara area,” the police reported.

Gumbs is said to have some other matters pending. He, too, was granted police bail for his later appearance at Magistrate’s Court.

RVIPF said investigations are ongoing into these matters.
