Tommy Robinson Leaves UK on Eve of Court Case, Arrest Warrant Issued
Tommy Robinson left the UK on the eve of an important court case, prompting a senior judge to issue an arrest warrant. He was supposed to attend court on Monday for allegedly repeating lies about a Syrian refugee. The warrant will remain in effect until October to allow him a chance to appear voluntarily.
A senior judge has issued an arrest warrant for far-right campaigner Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, widely known as Tommy Robinson, after he left the UK on the eve of a major legal case.
Robinson, who was supposed to attend a court hearing on Monday for allegedly violating an order related to defaming a Syrian refugee, traveled via Eurotunnel train on Sunday night.
Despite being arrested by Kent Police under counter-terrorism powers, he was released on unconditional bail.
The High Court trial pertains to Robinson's false claims against Syrian teenager Jamal Hijazi, who won one hundred thousand pounds in damages in 2021.
The arrest warrant will remain in effect until October to give Robinson a chance to appear voluntarily.
