Erdogan Secures Third Term as President, Praised by World Leaders in Election Run-Off Win

Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been congratulated on his narrow run-off victory in the country's elections by world leaders including Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Putin praised Erdogan's efforts to strengthen Russian-Turkish relations and both leaders discussed the development of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant and the creation of a gas hub in Turkey.

Western leaders such as Rishi Sunak and Joe Biden also congratulated Erdogan on his election win and emphasized the importance of maintaining Turkey's territorial integrity and securing a peace deal in Ukraine.

Erdogan's victory means he has secured a record-breaking third term as president and will serve at least five more years in power.

The Turkish presidential election has resulted in a run-off between incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and main opposition leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu.

Kilicdaroglu refused to admit defeat in his speech, citing his efforts to defend citizens' rights and prevent the country from becoming second-class.

This is the first presidential run-off in Turkey's history and has significant implications for the country and the wider world.

Erdogan's government has faced criticism for vetoing Sweden's NATO bid and purchasing Russian missile defense systems, but has also helped broker a deal to avert a global food crisis.

Kilicdaroglu has promised to restore a more democratic society.
