UK Indian Restaurant Manager Banned for Employing Illegal Workers
Ikbal Hussain, 51, has received a seven-year ban from serving as a company director after employing three undocumented Bangladeshi workers at the Taste of Raj in Hertfordshire's Stanstead Abbotts.
The ban, enforced by the UK Insolvency Service, prohibits Hussain from managing any business until 2031 following a 2020 immigration raid on his restaurant.
Hussain, who led the restaurant under Tender Love Ltd since June 2014, failed to conduct proper right-to-work checks, breaching UK immigration law. During the March 2020 raid, authorities discovered that the workers had been employed without legal rights to work in the UK.
Kevin Read of the Insolvency Service emphasized the severity of Hussain's legal infractions, while Suran Padiachie of Home Office Immigration Enforcement highlighted the broader crackdown on illegal employment.
The UK's Business and Trade Secretary, Kemi Badenoch, has formalized the disqualification, restricting Hussain's involvement in company promotion, formation, or management without court approval.
