One charged in connection with cocaine find @ Hodges Creek

A male resident of Harrigan's Estate has been charged in connection with the recent discovery of cocaine in a rental vehicle in the Hodges Creek area of Tortola.

Devon Bedford of Harrigan Estate was yesterday, January 28, 2021, arrested and charged for unlawful possession and possession with intent to supply with other persons unknown, according to a press statement from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) today, January 29, 2021.

It said Mr Bedford is scheduled to appear before the Magistrate Court at the next available sitting.

Police said during an operation in the early hours of last week Tuesday, January 19, 2021, members of the RVIPF seized a quantity of suspected cocaine in a rental vehicle intercepted in the Hodge’s Creek area.

In a January 20, 2021, press statement, the RVIPF had said a total of five bales, weighing in excess of 150 kilos, was recovered in the vehicle and a vessel connected to the drug seizure was also located in the Brandy Wine area and seized by officers.

Police said the driver of the rental vehicle in which the drug was allegedly found made his escape.

"The investigation remains live and ongoing," the RVIPF said.
