US nationals facing Guyana extradition on sex-related chargesne

Two United States nationals, wanted in connection with a series of sexual criminal matters in their homeland, will return to court on February 8, 2022 on a request for their extradition.
Senior Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court Friday began hearing arguments in the application for extradition made by a representative of the US government against Kareem Abdool Hack and Julian Yhip.

The men were arrested by local police after a warrant was issued by the United States.

Hack, 35, of Canje Berbice, has been living in Guyana for about 15 years and is the owner of a tint shop.

He told the court that he was unaware of the charges, while Yhip, who said he is employed as a chef pleaded with the court to be released on bail so he could care for his daughter, who is two weeks old.

He told the court that he wished not to contest the charge.
