The USVI Department of Health (D.O.H) this week confirmed its 25th COVID-19 related death in the U.S. Virgin Islands, which comes over a month after the 24th fatality.
The latest death occurred on St. Croix, and the victim was a senior citizen.
"After further investigating cause of death and ensuring notification of next of kin,
the Virgin Islands Department of Health is saddened to confirm the territory’s twenty-fifth death related to
Covid-19," D.O.H. said in a release Wednesday. The department confirmed the deceased to be a 76-year old male.
"The department continues to work to slow the spread of
COVID-19. Please continue to follow these precautionary measures: stay at home, practice social distancing, wear a mask when in company of others outside of those in your household, clean frequently used areas thoroughly, and wash your hands often with soap and warm water," D.O.H. said.
St. Thomas is leading
COVID-19 related fatalities with 15, followed by St. Croix with 9, and St. John with 1, according to data provided by D.O.H.
