VI's Adaejah T. Hodge pulls out of Girls U20 100m @ 2023 CARIFTA Games

Word reaching Virgin Islands News Online is that Virgin Islands (VI) sprinter, Adaejah T. Hodge will no longer compete in the U20 100m race on Day 1 of the 2023 CARIFTA Games being held at the Thomas Robinson Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas.
A release from the BVI Atletics Association today, April 8, 2023, detailed that, "Due to some discomfort felt while at the warm-up field and as a measure of precaution, BVIs Adaejah Hodge will not contest U20 100m today."

While the association promised more details to come, Ms Hodge, the Austin Sealy Award winner from last year’s CARIFTA Games was scheduled to go in the first heat of the Under-20 Girls sprint.

Hodge in 2021, established a National record in the U17 Girls 200m, in placing first in 23.64 at the Georgia Class 6A Championships and was also the National Record holder in the 100m with her best time of 11.70 in April 2021.

On the Internation stage, she was ranked World #1 U16 female athlete in the 100m and 200m that year.

Then at the 2022 Jamaican CARIFTA games, Hodge received the title of the most outstanding athlete across the 100 & 200M races as well as long jump.

She finished the 100m in 11.29, 200m in 23.42, and scored gold in the long jump with a distance of 6.20 metres.

The 100m semi-finals and finals are scheduled for later today, Saturday. Our news center will bring more information as it becomes available.
