The British Virgin Islands (BVI) government has allocated $250,000 to the BVI Tourist Board (TB) to host a concert celebrating the first direct flight from Miami to the BVI by American Airlines.
The concert, titled "Non-Stop," will take place on June 30 at Brandywine Bay and will feature Jamaican artiste Konshens, Monea, VIBE, Rock City, and other local artistes.
Premier Hon.
Dr. Natalio Wheatley announced the grant during a press conference and emphasized the importance of entertainment tourism in the BVI's economy.
He stated that the event will provide an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate the milestone in the country's aviation history.
When asked about the budget for the concert and whether the country was broke, Hon.
Wheatley replied that the government has provided a grant of $250,000 and that such events are expensive.
He added that if the country wants to build its economy and tourism industry, it needs to spend money to attract international and regional artistes for events like this.
The Non-Stop concert is expected to be a memorable event for the community and a major boost to the country's tourism industry.
The grant from the government highlights the importance of investing in events that promote the island's culture, history, and natural beauty to attract visitors and drive economic growth.
