What Will We Wear to Parties Once They Return? 6 Vogue Editors Share Their Moodboards

What Will We Wear to Parties Once They Return? 6 Vogue Editors Share Their Moodboards

Shop our going-out fashion inspiration because the late-night scene will be here before you know it.

As the vaccine continues to roll out, empty calendars are slowly filling up with invites to outdoor brunches and micro weddings. Before we know it, the return of the all-night, full-on, big-bash party could be back as well, which means the time to start thinking about what we’ll wear to our first post-quarantine soirée is now.

One look at the latest runway shows and it’s clear that designers are feeling optimistic about the return of evening attire as well. In fact, Michael Kors’s most recent collection was a parade of celebratory outfits, which was a fitting way to commemorate the brand’s 40th anniversary and welcome reemergence. Similarly, labels like Miu Miu and Paco Rabanne gave way to the notion that we are indeed entering a second roaring ’20s, with sheer gowns, sequin-embellished pants, and crystal-trimmed accessories throughout their latest presentations.

In the same vein, a few Vogue editors are already dreaming about putting on a joyous party outfit. For some, that means slipping on a bejeweled pair of shorts; for others, it’s a twirl-worthy tulle skirt. Join us in dreaming of night-time fiascos and get inspired for your next big event by perusing our editor moodboards ahead.

Miu Miu’s spring 2021 runway show has me yearning to bring a splash of color and sparkle into my wardrobe when it’s time to reemerge back into late-night soirées, parties, and weddings. As someone who has lived last year (almost exclusively) wearing a very monochromatic (and very comfortable) wardrobe, this silky tangerine dress by Olivia Von Halle and shimmery Miu Miu heels are just how I want to make my debut.

Alexis Bennett, Commerce Writer

I don’t know where or when my next party opportunity will be, but what I do know for sure is that I will be dripping in crystals and diamonds. My body also has a pent-up demand to be covered in sheer, frilly fabrics-like the ones in Paco Rabanne’s latest presentation.

Lilah Ramzi, Features and Commerce Editor

As I oversee our website’s party coverage, I am no stranger to a night out. Once upon a time, I was in black-tie once a week. Those days–and those opportunities to get gussied up-were put on hold, but once they come back, I plan to swan like a ’50s debutante every chance I get.

Christian Allaire, Fashion and Style Writer

I’m dreaming of summer night get-togethers with friends-with a wild, sleazy-chic look to go with it. And tons of cocktails!

Alexandra Gurvitch, Market Editor

Prada’s fall show really inspired my future going-out looks. I loved the unexpected sequined looks, understated enough that you look cool and not like you’re wearing a bad costume. Even just that sequin cape paired with a chic jean and heels, oh the possibilities!

Rickie De Sole, Executive Fashion Director

This Brock looks sums up my vision for post quarantine party dressing. I love easy separates that can pair just as well with flat sandals as they can with towering heels. I'd wear this with simple jewelry and ease my way back into socializing after a year off!
