Angela Rayner, the deputy prime minister and housing secretary, will unveil measures to protect renters from fire safety defects, damp, and mould at the Labour Party conference.
She will introduce a Remediation Acceleration Plan to expedite the removal of unsafe cladding on high-rise buildings, an issue highlighted since the Grenfell tragedy in 2017.
Additional measures include a consultation for a new Decent Homes Standard for social and private renters and a law mandating landlords to promptly address repair complaints.
The law will be named after Awaab Ishak, a two-year-old who died from mould exposure in Rochdale.
The measures form part of Labour's Renters' Rights Bill, aiming to assist 746,000 homes with serious hazards.
Rayner also pledged to build 1.5 million homes in the next five years.
Her speech comes amidst a controversy over donations accepted by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and senior ministers, causing them to commit to no longer accepting clothing donations.
