Arsenal Move Six Points Clear After Eze’s Historic Hat-Trick in Derby Rout

Eberechi Eze’s first Premier League hat-trick drives Arsenal’s 4-1 win over Tottenham as title momentum builds
Arsenal delivered a commanding performance at the Emirates, thumping their North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 on Sunday, and opening a six-point gap at the top of the Premier League.

Eberechi Eze was the standout figure, netting a hat-trick—the first in a Premier League era North London Derby—and firmly reinforcing his place in the title-chasing squad.

The game remained tightly contested through the first half before Arsenal broke through.

Leandro Trossard opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, then Eze doubled the lead shortly after with a precise finish.

Moments after the restart, Eze struck again, putting Arsenal firmly in control.

Tottenham briefly responded when Richarlison looped a spectacular lob into the net, but Eze sealed his treble in the 76th minute amid scenes of jubilant celebration.

Tottenham’s night was one to forget.

The visitors registered an expected goals (xG) figure of just 0.07—the lowest recorded in a Premier League game this season—and failed to muster a shot on target in the first half.

Guglielmo Vicario, their goalkeeper, admitted the team “did not fight” and apologised to the supporters after a display lacking composure and urgency.

Arsenal’s win marks their ninth unbeaten league game since a loss to Liverpool, and sustains their march towards a first top-flight title push in over two decades.

Speaking afterwards, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher argued, “They are the best team, with the best squad.

The only thing that can stop them is their own mentality,” underlining the psychological dimension of a potential title run.

Manager Mikel Arteta, cautious despite the margin of victory, heeded the warning.

When asked whether a six-point lead this early in the campaign meant much, he simply observed: “In this league?

Not a great deal”.

His restraint reflects the recognition that momentum can shift quickly in England’s top flight.

The significance of this result transcends local bragging rights between the North London clubs.

For Arsenal, it is part of a wider assertion of domestic dominance—one where they now must sustain focus, avoid familiar slip-ups and deliver week-in, week-out consistency.

Tuesday’s European fixture awaits, but for now the message is unambiguous: Arsenal are in full stride.
