British Airways Resolves Technical Issue After Flight Delays
Listen
Global Flight Delays Due to IT Glitch Resolved, Says British Airways
British Airways faced a major technical issue on Monday evening, causing disruptions in both domestic UK and international flights.
The problem, which began at around 17:00, left many passengers stranded on tarmacs in multiple airports, facing delays of one to two hours.
The airline confirmed that the issue, affecting some of its computer systems, has now been resolved without any flights being canceled.
Downdetector logged a significant spike in complaints about BA's website, indicating widespread disruption.
Passengers reported delays in cities like Verona, Hamburg, Naples, Lyon, and Dusseldorf.
Some experienced difficulties checking in as systems were reportedly down.
Despite the swift resolution, there are concerns about potential knock-on effects for flights on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for Heathrow confirmed awareness of BA's issues, though its systems remained unaffected.
British Airways is no stranger to IT-related disruptions, having faced similar challenges in May last year, as well as in 2017 and February 2020.
