DMV to resume ‘full’ operations by July 13

Effective July 13, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is expected to resume its ‘full complement of services’, Transportation Minister Kye Rymer has said.

Rymer gave that update during last Friday’s sitting of the House of Assembly.

He said the DMV’s services would, by that date, include cone tests, road tests, overseas drivers’ licenses, license upgrades, written tests, and issuing new drivers’ license.

He continued: “Motorists are reminded to use the appointment system when requesting services from the department; as they continue to adhere to the social distancing guidelines.”

Water update

In the meantime, Rymer said the Water & Sewerage Department is in the final stages of preparing to commence installation of new ultrasonic meters this week.

These types of meters utilize sound waves to transmit digital data to measure the pace of fluid in a pipe.

He said the department has a waiting list of customers who have paid all fees and is awaiting connection and they will be given priority.

“I take this opportunity to thank them for their patience and to apologize for the inconvenience that was caused by this delay,” Rymer stated.
