French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal Resigns After Election Setback
French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal has announced his resignation following the recent parliamentary elections in which his party failed to secure a majority. The left-wing New Popular Front coalition won the most seats but did not achieve an absolute majority. Attal will continue in his role until President Emmanuel Macron accepts his resignation.
PARIS: French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal has announced that he will submit his resignation to President Emmanuel Macron on Monday morning.
This decision follows the outcome of the recent parliamentary elections where the left-wing New Popular Front coalition secured the most seats in the second voting round.
Despite outperforming the far-right National Rally (RN) party, the coalition fell short of achieving an absolute majority in parliament.
Until his resignation is formally accepted, Attal will continue to fulfill his duties as Prime Minister.
