She is urging banks to refund these individuals through the chargeback scheme, which allows consumers to request refunds for failed services or fraudulent merchants within 120 days of payment.

The funeral home is currently under police investigation for "concerns for the care of the deceased." A 76-year-old woman named Rita Goldspink spent £2,700 on a pre-paid funeral plan from Legacy in April 2018.

Her daughter, Rachel Marshall, tried to get a refund but was unsuccessful due to the policy being bought some time ago.

Ms Marshall stated that her mother would not be able to afford another funeral policy.

Ms Hardy, the MP for the constituency, was only aware of one refund being given, to a 92-year-old woman.

Approximately 200 individuals in the constituency had bought policies from Legacy.

Ms Hardy urged banks to be flexible and consider offering refunds at their discretion, regardless of the age of the policies.

Ms. Hardy requested that the 120-day limit for individuals to challenge bank policy decisions start from the time they were informed of the non-existence of their policies.

She urged banks to be understanding in this unique situation.

Ms. Hardy received a letter from the Treasury indicating a willingness to discuss the matter further after she brought it up in the House of Commons on 17 April.
