Convicted Murderer's Celebration Sparks Outrage in China

Released after 20 years, man holds banquet outside victim's home in Sichuan
In a controversial event in Sichuan province, China, a convicted murderer, recently freed after a 20-year imprisonment, celebrated his release with a grand banquet and fireworks outside his victim's former home.

This incident, highlighted by the _South China Morning Post_, has sparked public outrage and deepened the victim's family's distress.

The murderer organized an elaborate gathering with 18 banquet tables and a red carpet, prompting the victim's son to express his frustration on social media.

The victim, 39, was killed in a brutal attack at his home, an act fueled by a familial dispute.

The son's plea for justice resonated with the local community and beyond, as the celebration continued until authorities intervened.

The Qingyi Town government confirmed that local officials promptly responded to the report of the incident, conducting educational sessions with the convict's family.

This incident has reignited debates on the justice system's role in protecting victims' families and ensuring accountability for such crimes.
