Over 150K Cruise Passengers Expected In Three Months

Over 150K Cruise Passengers Expected In Three Months

If all goes as planned, the British Virgin Islands is scheduled to receive 55 cruise ship calls for 2021, with over 150,000 passengers expected to travel to the destination during those calls.
This is according to the BVI Ports Authority (BVIPA)’s cruise schedule.

The information indicates that the territory can expect its first cruise ship – Norwegian Gem, with 3,130 guests – to come calling on October 7.

For the month of October, there will be a total of five cruise ships calling, bringing with them nearly 6,000 guests. For the month of November, the number of cruise calls would rise significantly, to 14 cruise calls bringing roughly 45,000 visitors to the BVI shores.

In December, the territory will see 35 cruise ships calling, and 104,611 passengers, representing the majority of cruise calls.

These passengers are expected to be fully vaccinated and have the option of operating in a bubble or not.

For those opting to be in the bubble, they are not required to be tested for COVID-19; however, those who would want to be outside of the bubble, would have to be tested upon arrival.

The plan for the bubble was given to the BVI Tourist Board to undertake.
