Reform UK has removed three candidates over racist and offensive comments. These candidates remain on the ballot but will serve as independents if elected. Party leader Nigel Farage has distanced himself from them, and the party faced scrutiny over its vetting process.
Reform UK has removed three candidates, Edward Oakenfull, Robert Lomas, and Leslie Lilley, following reports of racist and offensive comments.
Although these candidates will still appear on the ballot for Derbyshire Dales, Barnsley North, and Southend East and Rochford due to timing restrictions, they will serve as independent MPs if elected, said a Reform spokesman.
Party leader
Nigel Farage distanced himself from the candidates on BBC Question Time.
Reform UK stated that voters should still support the party.
Controversial social media posts sparked the decision, and the party's candidate vetting process has faced scrutiny.
Farage responded to criticisms about the party's hasty candidate selection due to the July general election announcement.
The party has also dealt with a Channel 4 investigation revealing more inappropriate comments by a volunteer.
