Russia Launches Missile Strikes on Kryvyi Rih Amid Ongoing Conflict

Recent attacks kill at least one in Ukraine's central city following drone assaults on Moscow.
On Wednesday, Russian missile strikes targeted the central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelensky, resulting in the death of a 47-year-old woman and injuries to at least nine others, according to Serhiy Lysak, the governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region.

The airstrike caused damage to various infrastructures, including high-rise apartment buildings, administrative structures, a shop, and an educational facility.

Kryvyi Rih has been under frequent attacks since Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine three years ago.

In a recent military offensive, the Russian military was reported to have deployed three missiles, targeting both Kryvyi Rih and the Black Sea port city of Odesa.

In Odesa, a missile strike on port infrastructure resulted in the deaths of four Syrian nationals and injuries to a Ukrainian as well as another Syrian citizen, as stated by Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba.

This attack also damaged the Barbados-flagged vessel, “MJ PINA,” which was in the process of loading wheat destined for export to Algeria, along with another vessel and grain storage facilities.

Additional bombings in the city of Dnipro during the overnight hours led to one reported injury, with damage inflicted on infrastructure, business properties, and approximately ten private homes, igniting fires that have since been extinguished.

In the context of the ongoing conflict, discussions around a potential ceasefire continue.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio indicated that the United States would approach Russia with a ceasefire proposal, signaling that the next steps depend largely on Moscow's response.

In contrast, senior Russian officials expressed skepticism about a ceasefire agreement, citing concerns that it could be strategically disadvantageous for President Vladimir Putin without concrete guarantees or pledges from Ukraine or its allies.

Simultaneously, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski announced that arms supplies from the United States to Ukraine through Poland have resumed.

Additionally, Starlink satellite internet services are reportedly operational, aiding Ukraine's communications and war efforts.
