RVIPF on 24-hour surveillance following reports of gunfire

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) Armed Response Team is said to be revisiting areas where persons reported hearing gunfire as well as suspected persons and areas.

This follows reports of heavy gunfire within the Lower Estate and Long Bush areas on Friday night, February 3, 2023.

Police said reports were also made recently of gunfire in the Sea Cows Bay and Manchester areas; however, there were no reports of injuries or damage to property and no shell casings were recovered.

24-hour surveillance

According to a press release from the RVIPF on February 4, 2023, the Head of the Armed Response Team, Acting Chief Inspector Dean Robin, is assuring the public that his team is providing 24-hour surveillance on the island targeting suspects and suspected areas.

Robin is appealing for persons who have witnessed or have any knowledge of firearms being discharged or any firearm-related information to call the anonymous tip line 800-8477 or the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9339.
