Two Men Charged with 1984 Murder Near East Finchley Tube Station
Charges follow decades-long investigation into the death of Anthony Littler in North London.
Two men have been charged with the murder of Anthony Littler, whose body was discovered with head injuries in an alleyway known as The Causeway, close to the East Finchley Tube station, on May 1, 1984. The accused, Michael Stewart, 55, residing on Station Road in New Barnet, and Anthony Stewart, 59, from Old Farm Road in Finchley, are set to appear at Willesden Magistrates Court following their recent arrests.
The charges arise from a renewed investigation that led to their apprehension in March 2024. Littler, who was 45 years old at the time of his death, was an executive officer at Customs and Excise and was returning home from a night out when he was attacked.
Relatives described him as a 'lovely, kind and gentle man.' In connection with the case, three other individuals had previously been arrested under suspicion of murder and remain under investigation.
