Police confirm the discovery of a body in Teesdale during the search for the 23-year-old woman who went missing five days ago.
The search for 23-year-old runner Jenny Hall, who was reported missing on 18 February, has culminated in the discovery of a body in a remote area of Teesdale, County Durham.
Hall was last seen leaving her residence in Barracks Farm at approximately 3pm on the day she disappeared.
On Sunday, Durham Constabulary announced that a body had been located in a very remote area, emphasizing that there were no initial indications of suspicious circumstances surrounding the discovery.
The police stated, "We’re sorry to report that officers searching for missing woman Jenny Hall have sadly found a body."
The body was discovered around 9:30am, following extensive search operations by local authorities in collaboration with specialist partners, who worked continuously since her disappearance.
While formal identification of the body has yet to be completed, Hall's family has been notified and is receiving support from dedicated officers.
A file will be prepared for the coroner's review.
In the days following Hall's disappearance, her vehicle—a red Ford Focus—was found on Wednesday abandoned on the B6278, positioned between Eggleston and Stanhope in an area characterized by its remote moorland.
The search operation involved a major police effort, including the deployment of mountain rescue teams equipped with specialist drones and sniffer dogs, who scoured Hamsterley Forest and its environs.
Additionally, digital intelligence officers conducted thorough inquiries involving Hall’s mobile phone, smartwatch, and associated running applications.
This multifaceted search operation underscores the significance of community and technological resources in locating missing persons.
