Gregg Wallace Faces Criticism Over Response to Misconduct Allegations

Accusers react to MasterChef host's comments on Instagram
TV presenter Gregg Wallace is under scrutiny following allegations of historical misconduct during his two-decade tenure on MasterChef.

Wallace, who has denied engaging in inappropriate behavior, called the allegations the product of 'a handful of middle-class women of a certain age' in an Instagram video posted on Sunday.

His comments have since drawn criticism from some of his accusers, who claim he is dismissing their concerns and playing the victim of classism.

Wallace acknowledged the receipt of 13 complaints from over 4,000 contestants he has worked with on various MasterChef shows, but labeled the allegations as unjustified.

Banijay UK, responsible for producing MasterChef, announced Wallace is stepping away from the show as investigations proceed.

BBC News reported the existence of complaints filed over a 17-year period, some alleging inappropriate sexual comments by Wallace.

As the investigation by the law firm Lewis Silkin advances, both the BBC and Banijay continue to face questions about their management of the accusations.
