InterCaribbean sorry for flight delays

InterCaribbean Airways has apologised to its customers regarding the recent flight cancellations and delays at the beginning of last week which extended throughout the weekend.
“The flurry of cancellations created by the delay in concluding the certification of our new ATR42 aircraft which was delivered in July of this year with the intention of putting it in service on routes out of Tortola. This added ATR42 capacity was to have released some E120 aircraft capacity to fly the Barbados winter schedule where the company started services just over a year ago,” the statement said.

The airline is expected to have its new aircraft online in time for the Christmas holiday increase.

However, the ATR42 aircraft is a new type for operation in the Turks and Caicos and according to a recent statement from the airline, it still requires the necessary approval process by the Turks and Caicos Islands Civil Aviation Authority.

“As the holidays approached with no approval assured, the company, sparing no expense to meet its commitments to our customers travel needs, arranged on an interim basis to wet-lease a Bombardier CRJ regional jet from a Canadian airline to fill capacity on some Northern Caribbean routes, but this sub-service could not begin before this past weekend,” the statement read.

The statement added that the airline has been working diligently to restore stability to the network and with little disruption, the management is confident in restoring the full schedule as soon as possible.

“The interCaribbean team appreciates the patience of Customers who had their travel plans disrupted and we look forward to a future opportunity to demonstrate our safe, reliable, friendly service to those customers whose experience did not reflect that over the past several days. We also extend our gratitude to our employees who have worked tirelessly in stabilizing our operation while dealing with understandably irritated customers,” the statement said.
