Kilburn Man Convicted of Murdering 80-Year-Old Partner in West London
Steven Clark found guilty of killing Ursula Uhlemann in March 2023 following a jury trial.
Steven Clark, a 50-year-old resident of Bravington Road in Kilburn, has been found guilty of murdering his 80-year-old partner, Ursula Uhlemann, in her flat located within a retirement housing complex in Queens Park, west London.
The verdict was delivered by a jury at Southwark Crown Court.
The incident that led to the conviction occurred on March 20, 2023, when London Ambulance Service personnel responded to a 999 call made by Clark just after 3am.
Upon arrival, the paramedics discovered Ms. Uhlemann unresponsive on the living room floor.
Despite attempts to revive her, she was pronounced dead at 4:11am.
Subsequent investigations initiated by the paramedics highlighted multiple injuries sustained by Ms. Uhlemann.
At the time of the police arrival, Clark was present and informed officers that he had been sleeping over at Ms. Uhlemann's flat.
He claimed to have found her unconscious after leaving and returning to the apartment several times.
However, police scrutiny of CCTV footage revealed that Clark had not left the flat at any point in the two days leading up to the death of Ms. Uhlemann, raising suspicions about his account.
Further inquiry discloses that Clark had a history of abusive behavior towards Ms. Uhlemann.
A postmortem examination subsequently confirmed that the cause of death was neck compression.
Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, who spearheaded the investigation, stated, "Ms. Uhlemann’s life was taken in appalling circumstances.
In light of Clark’s conviction, our thoughts are with those that knew her." Jolley also indicated that Clark had misled investigators regarding his involvement in the murder.
Clark is scheduled to be sentenced at Southwark Crown Court on Friday.
