King Charles III and Queen Camilla will visit Australia from 18 to 26 October, marking the King’s first major overseas trip since his cancer diagnosis in February.
The itinerary includes a traditional barbecue, reviews of the Australian naval fleet in Sydney harbour, and meetings with political leaders and cancer experts Georgina Long and Richard Scolyer.
The tour also encompasses themes of environmental conservation and climate change.
Following Australia, the royal couple will attend the Commonwealth heads of government meeting in Samoa.
The King continues to receive cancer treatment, influencing the trip's pacing and excluding a potential visit to New Zealand, based on medical advice.
Previously, King Charles only traveled internationally to France for D-Day commemorations in June.
This Australian visit is notably significant as it raises discussions on the future of the monarchy in the country.
Upon arrival, the King and Queen will be welcomed by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
The Queen will focus on projects related to literacy and domestic abuse.
Despite health challenges, recent updates indicate the King's condition is improving.
