LIAT to resume flights to BVI on December 31

LIAT to resume flights to BVI on December 31

Residents in the British Virgin Islands will only have to wait a few more days to board a LIAT aircraft as the regional airline has announced the resumption of services to the territory at the end of this month.

The regional airline, which is undergoing a major restructuring process, made the announcement in a brief social media post on Monday, December 21.

It said: “Let’s go shopping in St Maarten or visit the sights in the British Virgin Islands. LIAT is happy to announce that we will recommence limited flights to St Maarten & Tortola from Thursday 31st December 2020.”

“You can book today at www.liat.com or by calling Reservations Call Centre (268-480-5601),” LIAT added.

BVI News has since contacted the airline to get more details on the specifics of the flights and is still awaiting a response.

How to utilise credited accounts

Just last month, LIAT had announced the extension of deadline dates to all credited accounts. It said all credits due to expire between March and December 2020 along with all credits issued during 2020 will now expire on December 31, 2021. All credits issued after November 2020 will expire 12 months from their date of issue.

LIAT also outlined the policy for residents wishing to use their credits to book flights during the new limited schedule.

“Passengers must e-mail the LIAT Reservations Call Centre (credit.shells@liat.com) to book their reservations. Passengers must provide via e-mail the name of the passengers, the confirmation number and a copy of their previous itinerary which reflects the credit amount along with new travel dates and destinations,” the airline said.

“Once the credit is confirmed, it will be applied to the booking made by the Call Centre. Credits may only be used towards one specific booking. Applicable fare differences must be paid to complete the booking. Travel credits cannot be used to pay for ancillary fees (Fare differences, baggage fees or Pet fees),” it added.

LIAT’s Reservation Call Centre response time to all emails is expected to be within three business days.
