Police Seek Witnesses After Elderly Woman Dies Following Collapse on London Bus

Authorities investigate circumstances surrounding the death of a 78-year-old woman after cardiac arrest on a Finchley Road bus.
Police officers in London are appealing for witnesses to come forward following the death of a 78-year-old woman who collapsed on a bus in the Finchley area.

The incident occurred aboard a route 13 bus on Finchley Road at approximately 12:35 pm on Saturday, December 28th.

The woman had just boarded the bus when she suffered a cardiac arrest.

Emergency services, including officers from the police and the London Ambulance Service, promptly arrived at the scene.

Despite their efforts, the woman passed away in the hospital a week later on Saturday.

Her family is currently receiving support from a specially trained officer as they cope with the loss.

As the investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death continues, police are reaching out to the public for assistance.

They are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who was on the bus at the time of the incident and left before police arrived.

The driver of the bus is cooperating with the investigation, and authorities have stated that no arrests have been made in connection with the case.

The Metropolitan Police have urged potential witnesses to reach out by calling 101 or contacting @MetCC on the social media platform ‘X’, referencing CAD2686/28Dec. This line of enquiry forms part of the broader effort by the police to piece together a clearer picture of the events leading up to the woman's collapse, which remains a primary focus.

This situation highlights the importance of public assistance in such investigations, where witness statements can be crucial in understanding the events that transpired.

The police's appeal underscores their commitment to thoroughly investigating incidents that involve public health emergencies occurring in public spaces.
