Prince Harry Loses Bid for Private Police Protection in UK

Prince Harry, the son of Britain's Prince Charles and late Princess Diana, has lost a legal bid to pay for his own police protection when visiting the UK.
The High Court in London ruled that he cannot hire private security officers who have access to UK intelligence.

The decision comes after Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle were stripped of taxpayer-funded police protection after they stepped back from being "working royals" and moved to the US in 2020.

The couple has argued that they should be allowed to pay for their own security, but Home Office lawyers opposed the idea, saying it would allow wealthy people to buy their way out of public protection.

Last week, Prince Harry and Meghan were involved in a "near catastrophic car chase" involving paparazzi photographers after they attended an awards ceremony in New York.
