Tesco's Website and App Experience Major Service Disruption
Customers Report Inability to Order Groceries Online Amid Technical Issues
Tesco has confirmed that its website and mobile application are experiencing a significant service disruption, preventing many customers from placing online grocery orders.
The issue surfaced shortly before 10 AM on April 1, 2025, with reports indicating that problems began around 9:45 AM.
According to data from service monitoring website Downdetector, over 500 reports related to the service outage were documented, as customers took to social media platforms to express their difficulties in completing online purchases.
In response to the disruption, Tesco acknowledged the issue via a post on social media platform X, stating, "We are aware of issues with our app and website.
I’m sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.
Our IT teams are working hard to have this fixed as soon as possible; please keep checking back periodically, and hopefully, they will be working shortly."
The nature of the technical fault has not been disclosed, nor has there been any confirmation regarding its impact on delivery services.
This disruption follows a similar incident in February, when Tesco faced an online shopping glitch that led to items being removed from customer baskets or marked as unavailable during the checkout process.
Tesco attributed that incident to a technical issue affecting specific customer baskets.
