University of Kentucky Extends Campus Housing Benefit to Employees’ Dependent Students
Dependents of full-time University of Kentucky staff qualify for early residence hall access beginning Fall 2026.
The University of Kentucky (UK) has announced a new housing benefit for dependents of eligible full-time UK employees who enrol as first-year or transfer students in Fall 2026. Through the Family Education Program (FEP), dependents will receive priority access to on-campus housing room selection ahead of the general student population.
To qualify, the student must apply and be admitted to UK for Fall 2026, and the UK employee must complete a designated FEP form by 1 May 2026. The student then submits the 2026-27 campus housing and dining contract promptly, and confirms their attendance by the same 1 May deadline to maintain the early access benefit.
The program allows the student to join roommate groups, including those enrolled in Living-Learning Programs, with standard residence options subject to availability.
The university emphasises that residence halls like University Flats and Boyd Hall are generally reserved for upper-level students and therefore unavailable to first-year participants in the benefit.
The FEP housing benefit complements UK’s broader suite of employee supports, which already include tuition benefits, phased retirement contributions and competitive health plans.
HR officials note that the initiative strengthens UK’s community by recognising the families of staff members while enabling students to secure higher-demand housing early.
UK Campus Housing encourages eligible staff families to act quickly given limited spaces and early selection windows.
The dedicated team stands ready to assist with housing applications, roommate coordination and accommodation of students with special needs.
The benefit is scheduled to apply to the 2026-27 academic year and will be reviewed as the university invites feedback from participating families.
