On February 13, 2025, a 24-year-old Afghan asylum seeker drove a Mini Cooper into a gathering at a Verdi union demonstration near Munich's main train station, injuring 28 individuals, including children.
The suspect, who had a history of drug and theft offenses known to the authorities, was apprehended at the scene after police discharged a shot at the car.
Bavarian Premier Markus Söder labeled the incident as a likely attack.
This occurred shortly before the Munich Security Conference, which is expected to attract prominent international figures, including U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Authorities have indicated that there is no evidence linking the incident to the conference.
The motive behind the attack is still being investigated.
