Donald Trump is set to visit Scotland next year for the opening of a new golf course in Aberdeenshire, as confirmed by his son, Eric Trump.

The 18-hole MacLeod Course at the Trump International resort in Menie, named after Trump's mother, Mary MacLeod, is set to open next summer.

This visit could mark Trump's first return to Scotland since his presidency, which in 2018 led to widespread protests.

The resort, which has been controversial for various reasons, including environmental concerns when Menie's dunes lost their protected status, claims the upcoming course will have Scotland's largest sand dunes.

Trump International describes it as one of the 'most environmentally friendly and sustainable' courses.

Eric Trump, speaking to PA News, criticized the Scottish government for bureaucratic hurdles yet expressed his family’s ongoing love for Scotland.

He mentioned their significant financial investments and expressed personal disappointment with Scottish officials, such as First Minister John Swinney, who had endorsed Kamala Harris.

Eric Trump suggested this might hinder Scotland's tariff negotiations, considering Donald Trump's potential return to the White House.

A Scottish government spokesperson acknowledged the strong socio-economic ties with the USA and emphasized the importance of maintaining these relations, aligning with both nations' values.
